PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown University wrestling team announced today that they are bringing back Jesse Delgado as a member of the team's coaching staff.
"I'm happy to be back. These guys have been working hard all summer and you can see a lot of development from this time last year. I'm excited to see how they compete and develop throughout the season," said Delgado.
Brown wrestling head coach Jordan Leen released the following statement about Delgado's return: "We are all very pleased to have Jesse returning to join us on staff. The guys on the team are especially excited. Jesse has either coached or recruited everyone in our room, and he kept in contact with most of them over the past year. His credentials as a competitor speak for themselves, and we look forward to seeing what he can help us build now that he is single mindedly pursuing his career as a coach."
Delgado, who was an assistant coach from December of 2021 through the 2023-24 season, was a decorated collegiate wrestler at the University of Illinois. Wrestling at 125 pounds, he won consecutive national championships for his weight class in the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons and was a three-time NCAA Division I All-American.
In addition to his national prowess, Delgado claimed Big Ten Championships at 125 pounds in 2013 and 2014, while also being named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the 2013 Big Ten Championships.
