CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Brown women's tennis team competed at the Harvard Quad Event, showing strength in their performance against players from both Harvard and Columbia.
"Our players had the opportunity today to compete against players from Harvard and Columbia. The quality of play was very high on all courts, and we competed hard on the majority of the courts. A couple of singles matches didn't go our way in the last stages of the match, but it's encouraging to see our players fight anf try to problem solve in difficult situations," Head Coach Lucie Schmidhauser said.
The Bears dominated in doubles, winning three out of four of their matches. The doubles pairing of Phoebe Peus and Lindsey Hofflander posted a 6-2 win over Columbia's Sophia Strugnell and Amber Yin at the first line. Bella Hu and Addison Ahlstrom earned a win over Harvard's Maxi Duncan and Natalie Block in a tiebreaking set. Anne Moody and Ali Maguy defeated Columbia's Sophia Wang and Emily Baek with a final score of 6-4. At the fourth line, Hannah Shen and Anne Yang fell to Harvard's Angel You and Kavya Karra, 3-6.Â
Brown earned singles wins at the seventh and eighth lines, both over Columbia. Anne Yang defeated Amber Yin in three sets (6-3, 6-7, 12-10). In eighth singles, Anne Moody beat Sophia Strugnell 7-6, 6-7, 10-4.
