Women's Basketball Dominates in 104-47 Win Over Johnson and Wales
11/19/2024 10:00:00 PM | Women's Basketball
PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Brown women's basketball team had a dominating performance over the Johnson and Wales Wildcats on Tuesday night at the Pizzitola Sports Center, securing their first home win of the season with a final score of 104-47.
"Tonight I think we wanted to do some things that maybe we haven't done as much. So, a little bit more of that pressing and trapping early, and with that I think we just want to make sure that the other parts of our defense don't lag behind," Elizabeth F. Turner '98 Coaching Chair for Women's Basketball Monique LeBlanc said. "While we were doing some positive things like flying around, getting some traps, and rotating, then there might have been times where there was not a rotation at the end when we needed, or we didn't finish that rotation. I think putting it all together moving forward will continue to be important."
The Bears had a strong start to the game, going on a 15 point run in the first quarter. The Wildcats were unable to respond as the first quarter came to a close with a score of 25-10.
Brown put up a whopping 31 points in the second quarter with eight different Bears contributing to that total.
The Bears' outstanding performance led them to their win over JWU. Senior center Gianna Aiello posted her second double-doubles game of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Junior guard Mackenzie Leahy ended the game with the most points on the team with 18.
