Men’s Basketball Set to Host the College Hill Classic This Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's basketball team will host the College Hill Classic this weekend, a four-team event that features Brown, New Hampshire, Holy Cross, and Sacred Heart.

Brown suffered a 69-67 defeat in its home opener (Nov. 10). Kino Lilly Jr. paced the Bears with 18 points on 6-14 shooting from three-point range. Along with Lilly Jr., Landon Lewis, Aaron Cooley, and Lyndel Erold all scored in double figures.
Kino Chasing History
Kino Lilly Jr. sits second all-time in program history with 250 three-pointers made. The senior is seven triples behind program leader JR Hobbie, who has 257 career three-pointers made.
Lilly Jr. also sits fifth all-time in career points with 1,442, Lilly Jr. is 225 points away from being the second-leading scorer in program history. Lilly Jr. looks to become the fourth Bear to earn First Team All-Ivy honors in three consecutive seasons, the last player to do so was Jason Forte (2003-05).
Lilly Jr. was also named to the Bracketeer.Org All-American Watch List.
Kino Doing What He Does
Kino Lilly Jr. enters the College Hill Classic ranked first in the nation with 40.1 minutes played per game, Lilly Jr. ranked third in the nation in minutes per game to end the 2023-24 season. Lilly has scored 18 points in both of the opening two games for Brown this season, Lilly connected on six three-pointers in Brown's home opener against Maine (Nov. 10).
LIlly Jr. is shooting 43.5 percent from three-point range (10-23) and 40.0 percent from the floor this season, he's also shooting.
Lewis' Leap
In the absence of Nana Owusu-Anane, Landon Lewis has begun the season with double-digit scoring efforts in back-to-back games.
Lewis opened the season with 10 points, a career-high nine rebounds, and four blocks at Siena (Nov. 4), his four blocks was the most for a Bear since Nana Owusu-Anane rejected five shots against Dartmouth on Feb. 3, 2023.
Lewis netted 12 points in Brown's home opener against Maine (Nov. 10) on 5-8 shooting. The junior is shooting 50 percent from the field this season.
Lewis is averaging 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds this season.
Cooley Continues to Impress
Through the first two games of the season, Aaron Cooley is averaging 14.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, the senior has recorded back-to-back double-figure scoring efforts to open the season.
Cooley matched a career-best effort in Brown's season opener against Siena (Nov. 4) as he poured in 15 points and 15 rebounds, 15 points matched a career-high and 15 rebounds was a career-high.
Cooley is shooting 48.0 percent from the floor this season and his 10.0 rebounds per game ranks in the top-50 in the nation.
The Emergence of Del
Since moving to a full-time starting role to begin this season, Lyndel Erold has produced double-digit scoring efforts in back-to-back games to open the season. Erold is averaging 10.5 points per game this season, his 11 points against Siena (Nov. 4) was a career-high.
On the defensive end, Erold recorded three steals agsinst Siena, he's also avergaing 3.5 rebounds per game this season.
History
Brown is 24-27 all-time against New Hampshire, the Bears are 3-3 under Head Men's Basketball Coaching Chair Mike Martin '04. In the last meeting between Brown and New Hampshire, the Bears picked up a 67-51 win at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Nana Owusu-Anane and Kino Lilly Jr. combined for 31 out of Brown's 67 points.
Brown will look for its second win under Martin '04 against Holy Cross in its fifth contest. Brown recorded its first intercollegiate basketball victory with a 29-10 decision over Holy Cross at Brown's Lyman Gymnasium on Feb. 17, 1901.
The Bears are 5-1 under Martin '04 against Sacred Heart and 5-0 at the Pizzitola Sports Center under Martin '04.
What's Next
Brown will travel to Buffalo, N.Y. to take on Canisius on Saturday, Nov. 23, tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Koessler Athletic Center.
