Men’s Basketball Opens College Hill Classic With a Convincing Win Over New Hampshire

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's basketball team opened up the College Hill Classic with a wire-to-wire win over New Hampshire, 76-58, to open the College Hill Classic on Friday evening.
"It's good to win, it's hard to win, and you have to feel good about it." Head Men's Basketball Coaching Chair Mike Martin '04 said. "It doesn't change anything about how we prepare for tomorrow, the biggest thing for these guys is to get some rest for tomorrow. We'll come in tomorrow focused on what we need to do to beat a good Holy Cross team."
The Bears jumped out of the gate early as they opened the game on a 15-3 run through the opening 8:31 of the first half. The Wildcats converted their first bucket with 11:29 remaining in the opening half.
With the Bears leading 25-14 with 7:07 remaining in the first half, Kino Lilly Jr. broke the game open with three consecutive three-pointers. Lilly Jr. finished the first half with 18 points on 6-7 shooting from the floor and 5-6 from distance.
Brown took a 38-29 lead into the second half behind 45 percent shooting from the floor. Landon Lewis chipped in eight points in the opening 20 minutes on 3-4 shooting from the floor.
Brown outscored New Hampshire 38-29 in the second half behind seven points from Malcolm Wrisby-Jefferson and Jeremiah Jenkins. N'famara Dabo recorded three blocks in the second half and five total in the contest. Dabo's five blocks is the most for a Bear since teammate Nana Owusu-Anane recorded five against Dartmouth on February 3, 2023.
As a team, Brown recorded eight steals as Landon Lewis paced the Bears with two. Lilly Jr. went on to finish with 26 points on 6-8 shooting from distance, the senior is two three-pointers from the most made three-pointers in program history.
Aaron Cooley recorded his second double-double in three games this season with 10 points and 12 rebounds, Landon Lewis recorded a double-digit scoring effort for the third time in as many games this season.
Brown will continue the College Hill Classic on Saturday, Nov. 16 when they take on Holy Cross, tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
