PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's hockey (4-0-0, 2-0-0 ECAC) beat No. 13 Princeton (2-2-0, 0-2-0 ECAC), 4-3 behind two goals from Jade Iginla to earn a weekend sweep to start ECAC play.
Iginla led the way in scoring for the Bears with three points and Ava DeCoste and Jess Ciarrocchi each scored as well. Rory Edwards earned the win with 26 saves in net and moved to 3-0-0 on the year.
"It's huge, I think everyone could feel the energy in this building," said Edwards. "Everyone was jumping aroudn having a good time. We are going to enjoy this one for sure."
The Bears got the scoring going early as DeCoste picked up her third goal of the season from Jade Iginla. After winning the faceoff in Princeton's zone, the Bears sent the puck back to the point where Iginla found DeCoste between the circles and DeCoste beat Princeton's goalie, Jennifer Olnowich glove side for the tally.
Princeton tied the game up with a goal by Mackenzie Alexander with less than a minute left in the period.
In the second, Brown took the lead as Iginla picked up her first of the year, going five-hole off the assist from Gali Levy.
The Tigers tied up the game in the third on a power play goal, taking advantage of Brown's only penalty of the game. Just over a minute later, Brown took advantage of a turnover by Princeton right in front of the Tigers' goal. Ciarrocchi picked up the loose puck and a backhand shot put the Bears up 3-2.
Another turnover from the Tigers one minute later led to India McDadi finding Iginla who found the back of the net again and pushed the Bears' lead to two.
Princeton would cut Brown's lead to 4-3 halfway through the third but the Bears were able to keep the Tigers off of the board for the rest of the game.

Brown will make its first ECAC road trip of the season next weekend, taking on Dartmouth and Harvard next Friday (Nov. 1) and Saturday (Nov. 2). Both games will start at 3 p.m.
