Women's Tennis Wraps Up Final Day of Bruno Classic
10/20/2024 6:48:00 PM | Women's Tennis
PROVIDENCE, R.I-Â The Brown women's tennis team closed out weekend competition with the final day of the Bruno Classic.Â
"Today's match was a battle in singles with four of the six matches going into the third set tiebreaker. Even though our players lost the first set on the first four courts, they kept competing and finding ways to make their opponents uncomfortable. We were able to come back and win the second set on all four, which was great to see. The match tiebreakers were so close and most of them didn't go our way, but it was great to see our players competing so hard until the end. There are many positive takeaways from this weekend as our team continues to grow competitively and strategically," Head Coach Lucie Schmidhauser said.
Brown battled through doubles earning a win at the second line. Addison Ahlstrom and Dani Ben-Abraham posted a 7-6 win over Rutgers' Jackeline Lopez and Zeynep lker. The Bears put up a fight but were unable to collect wins in first, third, and fourth doubles.
In singles, Ali Maguy continued her streak earning another singles win. She defeated the Scarlet Knights' Karina Jumazhanova in three sets (1-6, 6-1, 10-8).Â
Gabby Soliman, Bella Hu, Lindsey Hofflander, Dani Ben-Abraham and Anne Moody all had close matches against their Rutgers competitors. Three matches went into third set tiebreakers, but the Bears were unable to come out on top.
