Men's Water Polo Starts the Weekend with Two Wins

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – No. 19 Brown men's water polo earned two wins on Saturday to start the Harvard Invite. Brown took down Mount St. Mary's 20-12 before beating No. 20 Navy 10-9 to close out the day.
BROWN 20, MOUNT ST. MARY'S 12
Brown exploded for eight first-period goals and 14 first half goals in a 20-12 win over Mount St. Mary's to start the weekend. Ilias Stothart led Brown with five goals and Dominik Balla scored a career-high four goals in the win.
Brown jumped ahead 7-0 and led 8-1 after the first quarter. Stothart and Balla each had three goals in the first quarter. The Bears pushed their lead to 14-3 at halftime as five different Bears scored in the second quarter.
Máté Tymcyna scored two of his three goals in the final quarter as Brown closed out the win.
BROWN 10, NAVY 9
Tymcyna and Daniel Hadar each scored three times as the Bears picked up the close win over Navy to close out the day.
Brown led 5-4 at the half but the game was tied at eight headed into the final quarter. Navy took the lead with just under six minutes left to play but Hadar scored his second goal less than 20 seconds later. With 2:56 on the clock, Hadar found the net again for the game-winning goal.
In goal, Dimitris Kratimenos finished the game with a career-high 19 saves and picked up two steals.
UP NEXT
Brown will take on San Jose State and Mercyhurst on Sunday to close out the weekend.
