PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's hockey picked up a ranked win over No. 8 Quinnipiac, 4-1, on Saturday at Meehan Auditorium.
Â
The Bears (9-12-2, 5-9-2 ECAC) pick up their first win over a top 15 team since defeating the same Bobcats (21-7-1, 10-7-0 ECAC) when they were ranked No. 9 on the final day of the 2021-22 season.
Â
Scoring for the Bears were sophomore Gali Levy, freshman Margot Norehad with the goal of the year, classmate Sam Broz, and sophomore Jade Iginla.
Â
"This was our best game of the season," said Head Coach Melanie Ruzzi. "It's a signature win for our program as we make our strides here. Everyone was exceptional. Yesterday was about Doyle, today was about possessing the puck on offense on all three lines and our defense. It was a full team effort of great play."
Â
After a scoreless first period where the Bears outshot Quinnipiac, 12-8 on goal, the Bobcats struck first in the second. Sophomore Zoe Uens scored unassisted. That score would hold until the third.
Â
Brown charged into the third period and fired home four unanswered goals. Levy evened the score with a helper from Broz with 18:01 on the clock.
Â
Norehad then scored a Michigan goal with assists from senior Cameron Sikich and freshman Miranda Calderone to take the lead with 10:17 to go.
Broz then sent home an empty netter from Iginla and sophomore India McDadi, and Iginla tacked on one more empty netter to seal the win.
