ITHACA, N.Y. – Brown women's swimming and diving (4-3, 4-3 Ivy) set seven new Teagle Pool records en route to a 185-115 victory over Cornell (5-4, 3-4 Ivy) on Friday evening.
"Sharing the deck with this year's team has been a lot of fun so this was a great way to wrap up our regular dual meet season," said Kate Kovenock, Mary Ann Lippitt Women's Swimming/Diving Coaching Chair. "Cornell came in with their best to date and our women responded with grit and spirit right from the opening race. We are all looking forward to the championship season."
The 200 yard medley relay team of Jenna Reznicek, Gillian Tu, Hannah Ahn and Samantha Scott finished in 1:39.71 to break the previous Teagle Pool record of 1:42.39. In the 100 yard backstroke, Reznicek topped the leaderboard again with a time of 52.81. The previous best in Cornell's home pool was 54.62 and the 52.81 mark was her second fastest this season in the event (Bruno Invite). Zehra Bilgin's 1:58.91 mark in the 200 yard butterfly destroyed the previous pool mark of 2:00.56 and was just shy of the Brown women's and swimming program record (1:58.41 by Andrea Wei in 2019).
Scott's 22.70 performance in the 50 yard freestyle was .22 faster than the previous Teagle Pool leader, Catherine Yu's 2:15.17 and Amie Barrow's 2:15.79 topped the pool finishes in the 200 yard breaststroke, Dana Li's 4:54.38 in the 500 yard freestyle and the 400 yard freestyle relay team of Anna Podurgiel, Kelly Dolce, Bilgin and Morgan Lukinac's time of 3:21.54 capped the pool records on Friday.
Sara Barrett earned the victory in the 1000 yard freestyle with Li placing second.
