Cross Country Splits for Pair of Local Weekend Meets

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – One week after opening up the 2023 campaign, Brown cross country will return to Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass. on Friday afternoon to kick off their second weekend of action.
The men's cross country team will take part in the Friar XC Invitational at Highland Park on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m., racing against host Providence, Stony Brook, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and UConn.
The women's team will have Friday off before racing exclusively on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the 5K Nassaney Invitational on the campus of Bryant University. Brown will be joined by the host Bulldogs, along with Conn. College, Franklin Pierce, Holy Cross, Merrimack, Northeastern, RIC, Southern Conn. State, Stonehill, UMass and URI.
The men's team will look to build on last weekend's first place finish out of five teams while hosting the Rothenberg XC invitational at Highland Park. Six of the Bears' 10 runners finished in the top nine overall as the team totaled 22 points with senior Evan Sherman taking home first place, freshman Matt Wing finishing third overall and Miles Mullins finishing fourth.
The women's team competed with eight sophomores in last week's opener and took home fourth place with Julia Schreifer leading the way for the Bears in sixth place. Julia Antony and Olivia Takla and followed for Brown in 16th and 17th places, respectively.
