Men's Water Polo Fights Hard in Tough Loss to #6 Pacific, 13-12

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's water polo (3-2) dropped a tough match against #6 Pacific on Monday afternoon, 13-12.
The Bears were led by six goals from Gabe Chang who scored four goals on penalty shots. Mate Tymcyna scored two goals, while Trey Rgoers, Evan Moore, Mac Berry and Ilias Stothart all scored one goal.
Kole Newman had a strong game in goal, picking up 14 saves against a powerful Pacific offense.
Chang found the net twice and Mac Berry added a goal in the first quarter that ended tied 3-3. Chang scored another goal in the second but Pacific led 5-4 at the half.
Brown came out strong on the second half with goals by Chang and Stothart a minute into the third to take a one-goal lead. Moore's goal with just under two minutes tied the game at seven heading into the final quarter.
After combining for 22 goals in the first three quarters, the two offenses exploded with 11 total goals in the final eight minutes.
Pacific took a two-goal lead but back-to-back penalty goals from Chang tied the game again. Two goals from Tymcyna answered two Pacific goals and the game was tied at 11 with just over two minutes left in the contest. Pacific would score two more goals before Rogers netted a goal with four seconds left for the final tally.

Brown will be off until making its first trip to California this season for three games on Sept. 16-17.
