CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Brown Bears (4-2, 0-1 Ivy League) and the 15th-ranked Harvard Crimson (5-2, 2-0 Ivy League) played a scoreless 50 minutes at Berylson Field before a late Crimson goal gave the home team a 1-0 victory on Friday.
The Crimson had the penalty corners in the opening half with three opportunities, but Brown's Kylee Del Monte (4 saves) turned away all three shots faced in the two quarters.
Bronte-May Brough had the only shot attempt of the third quarter, but it was blocked by the Bruno defense.
With nine minutes remaining in the fourth, Harvard's Sage Piekarski netted her third goal of the season with Emily Guckian picking up the assist.
The Bears had a pair of penalty corners in the final minute of regulation looking to tie the game. However, Harvard goalkeeper Tessa Shahbo turned aside shots from Juliette Meijaard and Lexi Pellegrino to preserve the shutout.
The Bears head to Lowell, Massachusetts to take on the UMass Lowell River Hawks (6-2, 1-0 AE) on Sunday (Sept. 24). Sunday's game is slated to begin at 3 p.m. and will stream on AmericaEast.tv.
