Rugby Blanks Princeton 88-0 to Begin Year Two of Chou Era

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's rugby (1-0) dominated from start to finish in an 88-0 victory over Princeton on Saturday afternoon on Berylson Family Fields. The 88-0 victory was the most scored and largest point differential since the Bears upended LIU 114-0 on October 2, 2021.

Akilah Cathey got things started for Brown 1:33 into the match for the first of four tries by the junior. Nikki Lynch followed the first of nine conversions by Kendall Cunningham with a try of her own. Noelle Lewis (three tries), Jania Vandevoorde (one try), Elizabeth Mahoney (one try), Kate Muldoon (one try), Jordan Wiseman (one try), Morgan Cunningham (one try), and Olivia Baptiste (one try) all scored. The Bears led 52-0 at the half.

"I was happy we were able to get everyone into the game and had some great moments on attack and defense," said Rosalind Chou, Kathleen Flores Women's Rugby Head Coach. "We integrated with three starting freshmen and I was happy with our performance."

On the crowd for the season opener, Chou was thankful for those who packed the Berylson stands. "The crowd was huge and seeing the support in the Brown community for our rugby program was huge."
