
Sailing Completes Opening Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown sailing teams opened their season this weekend, competing at four different events across the two days.
The women's team finished in third place out of 15 teams at the Toni Deutsch Trophy. Brielle Willoughby, Lily Shore, Katharine Doble, and Savannah Young sailed for the Bears. A second Brown team at the event came in seventh, represented by Emily Mueller, Francesca Edmands, Catherine Morrissette, Katherine McNamara, and Brianna Ross. MIT took home first place.
The coed team finished in fourth and seventh out of 18 teams at the Harry Anderson Trophy at Yale. Connor Nelson, Vera Allen, Tommy Styron and Menasha Leport were part of the Bears team that took fourth. Mason Stang, Helen Horangic, Olivia Miller, Blake Behrens, and Caroline Keeffe-Jones came in seventh.
At the Pine Trophy hosted by Coast Guard, the Bears finished in third place out of eight teams. Liam O'Keefe, Cam Spriggs, Guthrie Braun, and Charlotte Costikyan sailed for Brown.
Wrapping up the weekend, Brown had five boats competing at their home event, the Bears Invite. Ethan Simpson and Corinne Harrison came in second, Martins Atilla and Talia Levine placed third, Connor Macken and Janelle Li took fourth, Sidney Moyer and Sierra Bornheim came in fifth, and Kaitlyn Hamilton and Laura Hamilton finished in sixth.
