First Varsity 4 Advances to Grand Final Following Saturday Racing

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. -Â It was the First Varsity 4 that claimed a spot in the Grand Final on Sunday following the second day of racing at the NCAA Championships on Saturday in Pennsauken, N.J. on the Cooper River.
Each boat was competing in the A/B semifinals and the A4 finished third to move on to grand final. Brown's Second Varsity 8 crossed the finish the line in fourth and the First Varsity 8 was sixth. Both of those boats will race in the Petite Final on Sunday.
The top placer of the day, the A4, stroked by senior Eloise Catlin, took third in a close race with a time of 7:11.552. Yale was first (7:03.778) and Stanford came in second (7:08.356). Brown was neck and neck with Cal, holding a lead by less than a second through the first 1500 meters. Bruno then caught a burst of speed in the final 500 meters to take a top-three position and advance to the Grand Final.
The 2V8 crossed the finish line in fourth with a time of 6:29.153 to move on to the Petite Final. The Bears placed ahead of Virginia (6:32.377) and SMU (6:39.939). First place went to Washington (6:18.363), while Texas took second (6:20.653) and Princeton was third (6:23.439).
Brown's 1V8 (6:30.941) was sixth for a race in the Petite Final on Sunday. The top three moving onto the Grand Final were Stanford (6:10.993), Washington (6:14.455) and Yale (6:17.955).
The final day of the NCAA Championships is Sunday. The A4 will race in Grand Final at 9:36 a.m., while the 2V8 is set to compete at 9:48 a.m. and the 1V8 will go at 10:12 a.m.
