Four Gymnasts Qualify for Individual Finals at USAG Nationals

DENTON, Texas – Four members of the Brown gymnastics team have qualified for the individual finals at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships. Each individual qualified for the finals by finishing in the top five of their respective events during Thursday's team semifinal round.
Sophomore Julia Bedell and senior Abby Contello both qualified for the individual finals on vault after tying for first place on Thursday, senior Ella Poley qualified on bars, and Bedell and sophomore Maya Davis qualified on floor.
As a team, the Bears fell one place short of qualifying for Friday's team finals, finishing third out of four in their session with 193.050 points, finishing behind Lindenwood (195.625) and Air Force (193.850), and ahead of Southern Connecticut State (192.850).
Starting off the meet on floor, Brown posted a 48.675, led by Bedell (9.875) in third place and Davis (9.850) in fourth place, which qualified both of them for Saturday's individual finals.
On vault, Brown put up 48.650 and swept the top two spots with Bedell and Contello tying for first place at 9.825, with Contello's score tying her career-high. Sophia Dewar followed with a 9.725.
On bars, Brown posted a 48.125 with Poley tying for fourth overall at 9.775 to qualify for Saturday's individual finals. Lauren McKeown tied her career-high at 9.725 on the event.
Rounding out the meet on beam, junior Angela Xing led the way for Brown with a 9.700.
Brown's individual qualifiers will compete for the national championship in their respective events on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET. A livestream of the event can be found here and live stats can be viewed here.
