Softball Season Comes to a Close on Senior Day

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball's season came to a close with a 2-0 loss to Yale in the final game of the season on Saturday.
The Bears celebrated its six seniors before the game, honoring the contributions of Julia Gubner, Erin Elgas, Nicole Kim, Jadey Hagiwara, Meghan Gormley and Lauren Long.
Alexis Guevara allowed just two runs, scattering eight hits and striking out five batters but the Bears could not figure out Yale starter, Nicole Conway. Brown finished the game with just three hits with two walks and one hit batter.
Yale scored its first run in the top of the first and the Bears looked like they were ready to respond as Jasmine Hsiao doubled to leadoff the bottom of the inning. After moving to third after a strikeout, Hsiao tried to score on a wild pitch but was caught in a rundown ending Brown's threat.
Brown left two runners on in the second after a single by Moe Kastens and a walk by Lily Berlinger but two flyouts ended the inning.
Dara English walked in the third and Julia Gubner singled in the fourth but Conway continued to keep the Bears off the board.
Yale doubled its lead in the fifth and Brown managed just one more baserunner, Kastens was hit by a pitch in the sixth, for the rest of the game.
