Women's Water Polo Blows Past Saint Francis in Saturday Split

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – No. 21 Brown women's water polo split two conference games on Saturday as the Bears took down Saint Francis 16-3 before falling to No. 13 Michigan to close out the day.
GAME 1: Brown 15, Saint Francis 3
The Bears got off to a hot start against Saint Francis, building a 7-0 halftime lead and a 12-1 lead after three quarters in the blowout win.
Claire Poissonnier and Claire Pisani each scored three goals. Tallulah Clancy and Lily Weiser each added two goals for Brown.
Sophie Golub, Poissonnier and Zoe King scored for Brown in the first quarter. Pisani scored two goals in the second quarter and Weiser and Bryn Gioffredi also scored.
After Saint Francis scored its first goal, Poissonnier scored twice and Pisani, Alexandra Love and Weiser all found the back of the net in the third quarter.
Clancy scored both of her goals in the final quarter with Katharine Knowles also scoring in the final frame.
GAME 2: No. 13 Michigan 14, Brown 7
Emily Suong and Claire Pisani each scored twice but Brown could not stop Michigan's offense, giving up four goals in each of the first three quarters.
Pisani and Suong each scored in the first quarter but Brown was down 4-2 after the first eight minutes. Brown was shutout in the second quarter as the Wolverines built an 8-2 lead at the half.
Sophie Golub and Pisani scored in the third quarter but the Bears fell behind 12-4 with eight minutes to play. Brown scored three goals in the final quarter with Bryn Gioffredi, Sierra Martin and Suong all scoring.
UP NEXT
Brown will return to the pool on Sunday morning to close out the weekend against Bucknell. The game against the Bison will start at 9 a.m.
