Softball Set For Weekend Trip to California

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball will head to California for six games over the weekend as the Bears wrap up non-conference weekend play.
Brown (2-7) will spend Friday (March 10) and Saturday (March 11) at Cal State Fullerton, playing two games each day, before closing out the weekend with two games at Loyola Marymount.
On Friday, Brown will face off against South Dakota at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT and will take on Purdue immediately afterward. On Saturday, the Bears will again play back-to-back games with the first being at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT against Boston, followed by a clash against Sacramento State.
The weekend will close with two games at Loyola Marymount on Sunday with Brown starting the day against Colgate at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT before taking on the host Lions at 6 p.m. ET/ 3 p.m. PT.
A LOOK BACK AT LAST WEEK (I-75 CHALLENGE – ATLANTA, GA.)
- Brown went 1-3 over last weekend, picking up a win over Georgia State. The Bears fell in close contests to Southern Miss and Georgia Tech on Sunday, being done in by one rough inning in each game.
- In the win over Georgia State, Brown finished with six hits and got a stellar start from Alexis Guevara. Guevara earned the win with a complete game, allowing one run on three hits and striking out five batters.
- The Bears got two RBI from both Dara English and Liv Kam. English drove in runs in both the fifth and seventh and Kam had a two-run pinch hit single to push the lead to 5-0.
ALEXIS GUEVARA NAMED IVY LEAGUE PITCHER OF THE WEEK
- Guevara shined in her two starts last week, throwing 12 innings and allowing just two earned runs for a 1.50 ERA.
- She finished the weekend with 12 strikeouts, including a seven-strikeout performance against Southern Miss.
- Guevara now leads the Bears with 26 strikeouts in just 24.1 innings pitched this season and is holding opponents to a team-best .232 batting average.
BEARS AT BAT
- Brown has four batters with a .300 average or higher with Dara English leading the way, hitting .348. Englsih is tied with Meghan Gormley (.308 avg.) for hits (8), and RBI (5).
- Jasmine Hsiao leads the team with three doubles and has six hits in 22 at bats this season. Five different Bears have had two doubles on the season.
- English leads the team with three two-hit games and Gormley is tied with Niki Tanguay as the two Bears to have a three-hit game.
- Hsiao is currently on a four-game hitting streak, the longest this season for the Bears. Hsiao is currently on a five-game reached base streak, one game behind English, who has reached base in six-straight contests.
