
Men's Hockey Places Three on All-Ivy Teams

PRINCETON, N.J. – Two Bears – captain Luke Krys and sophomore Mathieu Caron – picked up Second Team All-Ivy honors, announced by the conference Wednesday morning.
In addition to the Second Team selections, Brown assistant captain Samuli Niinisaari was recognized with Academic All-Ivy honors for the second straight season.
Krys skated in all 30 games as a senior blue liner and did not miss a game in his Brown career, skating in all 92 over three seasons. The Ridgefield, Connecticut native posted 14 assists and 16 points while leading the team with 72 blocks this season.
Krys' 14 assists were the second-most on the team and his 16 points ranked third. Krys had three multi-point games in 2022-23, including a three-point effort against Dartmouth (Jan. 20).
In Ivy play, Krys posted a goal and five points in 10 games. He led the Bears with 31 blocks in Ivy play.
It marks the second Ivy honor for Krys after being named Second Team All-Ivy a season ago.
Caron picks up the first year-end honor of his career after a stellar sophomore season. The Abbotsford, British Columbia native posted a .921 save percentage and 2.49 goals against average in 24 starts in 2022-23. Both his save percentage and goals against rank as the eighth-best in Brown program history.
Caron's save percentage currently ranks ninth in the NCAA.
In Ivy play, Caron made nine starts and compiled a .907 save percentage and 2.99 goals against average. The sophomore recorded 27 saves in Brown's 3-2 win over ninth-ranked Harvard (Jan. 21).
Niinisaari, a biology concentrator on a pre-med track at Brown, was honored as Brown's Academic All-Ivy selection for the second straight year. The Hamina, Finland native was Brown's nominee for the ECAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.
