Sailing Completes First Weekend of Spring Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown sailing teams competed at four events on Sunday, March 5 to open the spring portion of their season.

The coed team finished third of eight teams at the Sharpe Trophy Team Race with a 5-2 record. Guthrie Braun, Jed Bell, William George, Connor Nelson, Lily Shore, Nora Ong, Hannah Sellers, and Isabel Cox competed for the Bears.

The coed team also took fourth of seven at the McMerrick Trophy Team Race with a 3-3 mark. Connor Macken, Mason Stang, Leyton Borcherding, Janelle Li, Menasha Leport, and Caroline Keeffe-Jones sailed for Brown.

At the Harvard Women's Team Race, the women's team came in fifth out of eight. The Bears were represented by Brielle Willoughby, Blaire McCarthy, Caroline Bayless, Francesca Edmands, Emi Ruth, Savannah Young, and Helen Horangic.

At Rhody the Riveter Women's Fleet Race, a pair of women's teams took second and third place out of six. Charlotte Costikyan, Catherine Morrissette, Emily Mueller, and Kaitlyn Hamilton competed in Division A, while Katharine Doble, Brianna Ross, Katherine McNamara, and Talia Levine represented the Bears in Division B.
