
Women's Water Polo Pulls Out Two Close Wins on Saturday

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Brown women's water polo began their trip to California with two one-goal wins over Concordia and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday.
Brown 12, Concordia 11 F/OT
The Bears earned a tough overtime win to the start the day as Alexandra Love scored with 29 seconds on the clock to give Brown the one goal win over Concordia.
Love was one of five Bears to score two goals in the game, along with Ella Palmer, Claire Eusey, Sophie Golub and Lily Weiser.
Concordia scored the first goal of the game before Weiser, Golub and Love put Brown on top. The Bears led 5-3 after the first with goals from Zoe King and Palmer later in the quarter.
After Concordia tied the game at five, every goal the Bears scored was matched by the Eagles until the score was 9-9 midway through the third. Late in the third, Eusey scored back-to-back goals to put Brown up three heading to the final quarter.
Concordia kept the Bears off the scoreboard in the final eight minutes and tied the game at 11 with 45 seconds left to play.
Both goalies made big saves during the overtime periods with the first period remaining tied at 11 before Love's goal put the Bears on top for good.
Brown 10, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 9
The Bears got four goals from Zoe King and Brown built an early lead before hanging on to beat Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to close out Saturday's action.
The Bears scored five goals in the first quarter with two coming from King and one each from Sierra Martin, Ella Palmer and Madeleine Poissonnier. In the second quarter, King and Love each scored as Brown jumped ahead 7-2 at the break.
C-M-S battled back winning the third quarter 4-1 and back-to-back goals in the middle of the fourth cut Brown's lead to 9-8. King ended the chance of a comeback with a goal with 13 seconds left to put Brown up two.

Brown will head to Whittier, California for two games on Sunday. The Bears will faceoff against CSUN at 3 p.m. ET and Whittier at 6 p.m.ET.
