LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Brown University goaltender Mathieu Caron picked up Third Team All-ECAC honors. The ECAC announced the year-end awards at the Award & Championship Reception in Lake Placid.
The Abbotsford, British Columbia native was stellar this season between the pipes, finishing the campaign with a 2.49 goals against average and .921 save percentage in 24 starts. Caron's save percentage ranks eleventh in the NCAA.
In the Brown record books, Caron's goals against and save percentage both rank as the eighth-best in program history.
The sophomore recorded two shutouts this season, recording 24 saves in Brown wins over Holy Cross (Nov. 25) and Rensselaer (Jan. 14). He also recorded wins over #8 Providence, #8 Merrimack, and #9 Harvard this season.
With four career shutouts, Caron is tied for third-most in program history alongside Anthony Borelli '13 and Harry Batchelder '58. He is one shy of matching Gavin Nieto '20 for second and nine shy of Yann Danis' program benchmark.
Caron is the first Bear to pick up All-ECAC honors since Sam Lafferty '18 picked up Third Team honors following the 2016-17 season. He is just the seventh Brown goalie to pick up All-ECAC accolades since the conference formed prior to the 1961-62 season and first since Danis in 2003-04.
