Hsiao Homers as Softball Drops Two Games on Sunday

LOS ANGELES – Brown closed out its final weekend of non-conference play falling to both Colgate and Loyola Marymount.

Game 1: Colgate 7, Brown 1
Jasmine Hsiao hit her first-career home run but the Bears could not muster any other offense in a 7-1 loss to Colgate.

The Bears had two runners reach in the first on walks but weren't able to get a run across.

Colgate's first run came in the third after a triple to lead off the inning. Two batters later, a sac fly made it 1-0. A two-run home run in the top of the fifth made it 3-0 Raiders.

Brown got singles from Laurel Moody and Vanessa Alexander in the fourth and fifth, respectively but again could not get a run across.

A double and home run started the sixth inning for Colgate and after an error with two outs, Colgate added two more runs on a single to left, making it 7-0.

Hsiao got the Bears on the board in the sixth with a solo shot to center with two outs. Alexander singled in the seventh but Brown could not get another run on the board.

Guevera (1-4) picked up the loss, going 4.1 innings and striking out five batters.

Game 2: Loyola Marymount 9, Brown 0 (5 innings)
The Bears closed out the weekend falling 9-0 in five innings to Loyola Marymount. The Bears managed just one hit in the game, a double by Cameron Zytkewicz Ray in the fifth inning.

LMU scored in every inning, notching two runs in the first, three in the second and two more in both the third and the fourth.
