NEW YORK – Brown football alum Kevin Mundt '76 was recognized with a major honor on Thursday evening. Mundt was one of eight Ivy League football alums, one from each league institution, to be honored by the Ivy Football Association at its 11th bi-annual dinner at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square.
The honorees are recognized for their contributions on the field, as well as their accomplishments and contributions in the years since their graduation.
This year's event was co-hosted by Brown alum Chris Berman '77 and Yale's Jack Ford '72.
Mundt was joined at the event by well over 100 fellow Brown football alums, as well as his wife Jayne and their three adult sons.
A two-sport athlete in football and track and field at Brown, Mundt played four years of football (one freshman, three varsity) at Brown from (1972-1975) and helped build the program into a championship contender. After graduating in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in economics, Mundt started his career in management consulting at Bain & Company before co-founding Corporate Decisions, Inc., which specialized in business model transformations.
Mundt currently serves as the Managing Director of Vestar Capital Partners where he manages the firm's investments in consumer products and distribution-based businesses.
Mundt has served on the Capital Campaign Committee at The Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and chairs the Cancer Research and Care Advisory Board. A cancer survivor, Mundt and his family support numerous academic and medical philanthropic efforts, such as groundbreaking research in prostate cancer treatment.
Never forgetting his alma mater, Mundt spent six years as a trustee of Brown University, and is currently a Trustee Emeriti of Brown and chaired Brown's Advisory Council on Athletics for over a decade.
Mundt joins Brown's past honorees in Joe Paterno '50, Paul Choquette, Jr. '60, Robert Seiple '65, Donald Carcieri '65, Steve Jordan '82, Augustus White '57, Tom Catena '85, George Pyne '88, Bob Pangia '73, and Bill O'Brien '92.
