WELLESLEY, Mass. – Brown women's fencing captured two team wins, taking first in the foil and saber, and finished fourth in the épée Saturday at the 2023 NEIFC Championships in Wellesley.
Individually, Anika Breker defeated teammate Grace Li in the individual foil final and Casey Chan captured the crown in the women's saber.
"Brown fought like champions today in a very long day of fencing at a very competitive NEIFC, and it shows!" said head coach Alex Ripa. "I'm so proud of the work and dedication of these amazing athletes all season. They deserve the top spots they earned today!"
The Bears finished ahead of second-place Wellesley and third-place Vassar in the team foil with Breker, Li, and Samantha Chon competing for Brown. All three qualified for the individual elimination rounds. Chon reached the semifinal before falling to Breker.
