
Women's Water Polo Cruises to Two Wins on Saturday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Brown women's water polo cruised to two wins to start the Bronco Invitational, scoring 14 goals in each game.
Brown 14, Santa Clara 6
The Bears cruised to a 14-6 win over Santa Clara to open the Bronco Invitational. The Bears were led by Zoe King with four goals. Claire Pisani and Sophie Golub each had two goals for Brown.
King got things started less than three minutes into the game off an assist from Pisani. Santa Clara tied the game 30 seconds later but the Bears closed out the quarter with goals by Alexandra Love and Lily Weiser.
The Bears took a 4-1 lead on a Golub goal and Siena Berry put Brown up 5-1. Two goals by the Broncos cut the lead in half before Pisani found the back of the net right before halftime.
Santa Clara started the half with a goal before Brown took over. Back-to-back goals by King were followed by a goal from Ella Palmer. Golub and King each added another goal to put Brown up 11-4 after three quarters.
Pisani, Claire Poissonnier and Tallulah Clancy all scored in the fourth quarter for the Bears.
Shauna Franke picked up the win in goal collecting 14 saves and allowing just six goals.

Brown was led by Alexandra Love with three goals and Ashely Penner, Claire Pisani and Lily Weiser all had two goals.
The Bears tallied two goals in the first quarter, coming from Palmer and Pisani and the run continued in the second quarter with Brown scoring the next five goals. Pisani scored her second goal with Weiser, Claire Poissonnier, Madeleine Poissonnier and Zoe King all finding the net. The Bears took a 7-1 lead into halftime.
Cal State Monterey Bay scored the first goal of the second half but the Bears responded with another 7-0 run. Weiser scored to start the run, followed by two goals from Love. Emily Suong continued the run and Penner scored two-straight before Love scored her third goal of the game for Brown's last tally.
Roxanne Hazuka finished the game with 10 saves, allowing just three goals.

Brown will finish the Bronco Invitational with games against Cal State East Bay and San Jose State on Sunday (Feb. 19).
