Women's Fencing Beats Yale in First Day of 2023 Ivy League Round Robins

ITHACA, N.Y. – Brown women's fencing closed the first day of the 2023 Ivy Round Robins with a team victory over the fifth-seeded Yale Bulldogs to take a 1-3 record into tomorrow's final day of competition at Barton Hall on the campus of Cornell.
The win over Yale marks Brown's first team win at the Ivy League Round Robins since knocking off Yale in 2015.
Anika Breker led all Bears with a 7-5 record in the foil to rank ninth among Ivy Leaguers through the first day of competition.
In the sabre, Casey Chan compiled a 5-7 record and Rebecca Whang posted a 4-8 mark. Arianna Baffa racked up three individual wins in the epée.
Brown closes the Ivy Round Robins tomorrow afternoon with matches against Penn and Cornell.
SATURDAY RESULTS (1-3)
Round 1: Princeton 23, Brown 4 (S: 7-2; F: 7-2; E: 9-0)
Round 2: Harvard 20, Brown 7 (S: 5-4; F: 7-2; E: 8-1)
Round 3: Columbia 20, Brown 7 (S: 6-3; F: 7-2; E: 7-2)
Round 4: Brown 14, Yale 13 (S: 4-5; F: 4-5; E: 6-3
