Gymnastics to Host Springfield for Senior Meet on Sunday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's gymnastics team will close out its three-meet home stand this Sunday afternoon with its annual Senior Meet when it hosts Springfield College at 1 p.m. The Bears will honor their five-member senior class of 2023 – Abby Contello, Jasmine Lee, Lauren Lazaro, Ella Poley and Carolanne Van Zandt – with a post meet ceremony.

ABOUT BROWN
Brown has posted wins over all four of its opponents over the last two weekends at home, starting with a score of 193.625 to score wins over Bridgeport, Southern Connecticut and RIC in a home quad meet, then followed with a dual victory over Southern Connecticut last Sunday. The Bears score of 194.775 over SCSU was the fourth-highest in program history and their highest-ever for a regular season meet.
Last weekend's dual against SCSU also saw the Bears break a 10-year old school record (48.900) on beam at 48.925, with four of the team's six gymnasts setting new career-highs.
Brown's season average ranks 57th nationally in the Road to Nationals standings and is second in the GEC, trailing only Penn (46th-104.700).
Following this weekend's meet, Brown will hit the road on Monday, February 20 for a President's Day quad meet at LIU with Towson and Bridgeport.
