Baseball’s Seppings Named to Great Britain’s Roster for World Baseball Classic

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A major honor awaits Brown sophomore pitcher Jack Seppings, who has been named to Great Britain's taxi squad roster for the upcoming 2023 World Baseball Classic.
Seppings will attend mini camp with the Great Britain squad in Arizona ahead of the upcoming World Baseball Classic, and will be with the team as it begins pool play in Arizona, sitting on stand-by with the chance to be added to the active roster for the tournament.
Seppings will not be the only Ivy League representative at this year's WBC. He joins Dartmouth alum and former Major League player and manager, Brad Ausmus, who will serve on Team Israel's coaching staff. Ausmus previously managed the Israelis at the 2012 WBC.
"I am very honored to be named to the 50-man roster to have the chance to represent Great Britain in such a competitive tournament," Seppings said. "Having the ability to learn from players that are at the next level, one that I have my eyes set on, is something I really look forward to and look to take advantage of. I am beyond thankful for this opportunity and for the support from everyone around me."
"To be chosen as a representative for Team Great Britain on baseball's biggest global stage, what an honor," Brown head coach Grant Achilles said. "We are extremely proud of Jack, and I know he will represent Brown University well."
A native of Newnan, Georgia, Seppings holds dual citizenship between the United States and Great Britain. The 2023 WBC will not be his first international competition, as he previously had the opportunity to play for Great Britain's U18 National Team, playing in tournaments in Italy and Switzerland.
Seppings proved a strong option out of Brown's bullpen as a rookie in 2022, striking out 23 batters while walking only two in 15.0 innings of work, and picking up a pair of saves. He struck out five batters in two perfect innings of relief in his collegiate debut at USF on March 4, and grabbed his first save with two shutout innings at Harvard on April 3. He also struck out two batters in a perfect ninth inning to close out Brown's first-ever no-hitter on April 5 against Holy Cross.
Great Britain will compete in Pool C with Team USA, Mexico, Columbia and Canada at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. Great Britain will open against Team USA on March 11 at 10 p.m. ET.
