Career-Days Lead Brown Past Johnson & Wales

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's basketball earned its fourth-straight win cruising past Johnson & Wales, 90-35. Multiple Bears had career-days in the win for Brown.
Alyssa Moreland led Brown with a career-high 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for her first-career double-double and the first double-double for the Bears this season. Olivia Young also had career-highs with 12 points and eight rebounds. Amiya Hopkins and Mady Calhoun also scored career-highs with Hopkins scoring 11 and Calhoun adding 10.
Brown owned the paint with a 44-6 advantage. The Bears outrebounded JWU 62-31 leading to a 23-10 advantage in second chance points.
The Bears' defense held Johnson & Wales to just 19 percent shooting and forced 22 turnovers, which led to a 33-9 advantage in points off turnovers.
Brown took control early as the Bears began the game with a 20-0 run and led by 21 later in the quarter. The Bears hit five threes in the quarter with Mauricio and Young each hitting two. Alyssa Moreland led the way with seven points in the quarter for Brown as the Bears led 26-7 after one.
The Bears continued to pull away as Brown shot 52.9 percent in the second quarter, outscoring JWU 23-6. Brown's defense held the Wildcats to 1-for-11 shooting in the quarter.
Brown again held JWU to just one field goal in the third quarter as the Wildcats were 1-for-13 from the floor. Brown won the quarter 18-8 to hold a 67-21 lead with ten minutes to play. The Bears pushed its lead to a game-high 55 points with 33 seconds left on the clock.

Brown will play its final home game of 2023 when the Bears host UMass Lowell on Tuesday (Dec. 5) at 7 p.m.
