Black Bears’ Late Run Gives Maine 60-49 Victory on Sunday

ORONO, Maine – Brown (2-8) scored eight unanswered to cut a 16-point lead to two, but Maine (6-4) closed Sunday's contest in the Pit in Memorial Gymnasium on an 11-2 run to defeat the Bears 60-49.

Free throws were the answer late for the Bears as Brown went 11-of-13 in the second half from the charity stripe, including the run before the closing minutes.

Nana Owusu-Anane's dunk with five minutes remaining in regulation sealed the 8-0 run, forcing a Black Bear timeout.

Owusu-Anane finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds, Malachi Ndur collected a career-best three blocks, and Kino Lilly Jr. posted 11 points.

FIRST HALF
Maine finished 16-of-24 from the field in the first to jump to a 37-23 lead at the half.

Owusu-Anane registered eight points and five rebounds in the first 20.

SECOND HALF
Brown came out firing to chip away at the double-digit deficit, making it 43-35 before the under-12 media. After free throws by Felix Kloman, Ndur and Owusu-Anane, Nana's dunk off the beautiful pass from Flex led to a Maine timeout.

Despite the Bears outscoring the Black Bears by three in the second half, Maine went on an 11-2 run in the final five minutes to end the Brown's three-game win streak.
