
Sailing Teams Complete Weekend of Competition

NEWPORT, R.I.- The Bears competed in three regattas this weekend, placing in two of the events.
The coed sailing team participated in the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Round 1A at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Connor Nelson, Vera Allen, Liam O'Keefe, Helen Horangic, and Cam Spriggs took the team to second place out of 18 teams. The Bears won the B-division, which allowed them to qualify for the Open Atlantic Coast Championship at St. Mary's College of Maryland.
The coed team placed third and fifth out of 17 teams at the Sister Esther Trophy at Salve Regina University. The Bears were beat out by Salve Regina on a tie-breaker for second place. Brown won the A-division. The third place team consisted of Blake Behrens, Caroline Keeffe-Jones, Ethan Simpson, and Katherine Majette. Connor Macken, Olivia Miller, Mason Stang, Janelle Li, Laura Hamilton, Talia Levine, and Sierra Bornheim were on the fifth place team.
The women's sailing team finished in sixth place for the Stu Nelson Women's Trophy at Connecticut College. Charlotte Costikyan, Menasha Leport, Catherine Morrissette, Katherine McNamara, Brianna Ross, Emily Mueller, and Francesca Edmands were on the team.
