
Coed Sailing Goes Back to Back at New England Match Race Championship

CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. - The Brown sailing teams placed in three out of the five events that they participated in this weekend.Â
The coed sailing team won the New England Match Race Championship for the second year in a row. In the final round, Brown took victory over the Coast Guard Academy to win the event. This win earned them an automatic berth to the College Sailing Match Race National Championship at the College of Charleston next month. Liam O'Keefe, Charlotte Costikyan, Cam Spriggs, and Guthrie Braun made up the winning team.
The coed sailing team also won the Savin Hill Invitational at Boston College. The team of Blake Behrens, Corinne Harrison, Ethan Simpson, and Janelle Li came in first place out of 17 teams. The second Brown team that participated in the event placed fifth. Connor Macken, Olivia Miller, Martin Atilla, and Sierra Bornheim were on the team.Â
The final event that the coed sailing team participated in was the Captain Hurst Bowl at Harvard. The team of Connor Nelson, Vera Allen, Helen Horangic, Leyton Borcherding, Caroline Keeffe-Jones, Mason Stang, and Catherine Morrissette came in seventh place out of 16 teams.
The women's sailing team finished in first place out of 17 teams at the Women's Atlantic Coast Tournament at Brown over the weekend. Katherine McNamara, Brianna Ross, Laura Hamilton, Katherine Majette, and Sidney Moyer carried the team to victory.Â
The women's sailing team also participated in the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship at Yale. The team of Brielle Willoughby, Lily Shore, Katharine Doble, Savannah Young, Francesca Edmands, Emily Mueller, and Kaitlyn Hamilton finished in seventh place out of 18 teams.Â
