Field Hockey Drops Conference Match Against Princeton

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (4-5, 0-4 Ivy League) dropped a 2-0 final to the defending Ivy League champion Princeton Tigers (5-6, 3-1 Ivy League) Friday afternoon at Goldberger Family Field.
Ella Cashman gave the Tigers the early lead in the third minute on the third effort from the Princeton offense. Brown goalkeeper Kylee Del Monte (3 saves) made two initial stops before the goal.
Zoe Lawrence had Brown's best chance of the opening half with 6:50 remaining in the second quarter, but her shot went just wide.
Celia Donner recorded a defensive save early in the third quarter to keep the Bears within a goal, turning aside a shot from Talia Schenck.
Two minutes later, Imogen Govan cut through the Tiger defense and was taken down in the circle for a penalty stroke. Zita Cohen entered the game to take the shot, but her effort hit the post.
Lawrence had another chance on goal off a penalty corner in the third quarter, but Robyn Thompson (3 saves) kicked out her right leg to make the save.
Ella Hampson struck for the insurance goal with 6:32 remaining in the fourth quarter, collecting a stretch pass from Ava Dempsey before rocketing a shot past Del Monte.
