Men's water polo kicks off conference play on the road

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's water polo takes to the road for the start of conference play this weekend with games at St. Francis Brooklyn, Princeton and Iona.
The Bears will begin the trip on Saturday (Oct. 1) with games at St. Francis (10 a.m.) and Princeton (5 p.m.). The trip will conclude on Sunday when the Bears travel to Iona (1:30 p.m.). All three games of the trip will be streamed.

ABOUT BROWN
- Brown comes into the first weekend of conference play tied for 19th in the latest CWPA Men's Varsity Top-20 Poll. The Bears are 7-4 on the season and went 2-1 in their last weekend of play out in California.
- Ilias Stothart continues to shine in his freshman season, leading the Bears with 18 goals, 16 exclusions drawn and 15 penalties drawn.
- Gabe Chang is second on the team in scoring with 15 goals and leads the team in points (21) having added six assists. Leo Berkman is third on the squad with 12 goals and leads Brown with 13 steals.
- Cole Atwell has filled up the stat sheet with nine goals, 10 assist and seven steals.
- Kole Newman leads the Bears with 44 saves in goal.
- St. Francis Brooklyn is 10-4 on the season and has won its last five matches, sweeping all five at Air Force two weekends ago. The Terriers are tied with Brown for 19th in the CWPA Men's Varsity Top-20 Poll.
- The only meeting between Brown and St. Francis last season was a 14-13 win in overtime for the Bears.
- Princeton is ranked 15th coming into the weekend and is 8-4 on the season. The Tigers have lost their last three matches, falling to No. 2 UCLA (6-8), No. 6 UC Davis (8-9) and No. 12 UC Irvine (7-8 2OT).
- Roko Pozaric leads Princeton with 26 goals and is one of six Tigers to have scored at least 10 goals this season. Pozaric also leads the team with 19 steals.
- Brown dropped both matchups with Princeton last season, falling 8-12 at Princeton and 7-13 in Providence. The Bears also lost to the Tigers 9-14 in the NWPC Tournament.
- Iona is 5-8 on the season and has lost five-straight games to Division I opponents.
- Mohamad Refaat leads Iona with 41 points (28 goals, 13 assists). Luksa Vlasic leads the team with 29 goals. Sole Fratilla is the third Gael with 20+ goals on the year, having scored 22.
- Diego Gomez leads Iona with 4-3 record in goal, while Kyle Laufenberg has the most saves at 66.
- Brown won three matchups against Iona last season, winning 15-12 and 15-7 during the regular season and 15-11 in the NWPC Tournament.
