Women's soccer takes on Northeastern Sunday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's soccer team will hit the road this Sunday, Sept. 11 to take on Northeastern at 1 p.m.

The Bears will be looking to rebound after their first defeat of the season, a 3-2 thriller against No. 22 Ohio State. The Huskies also dropped their most recent contest, a 2-1 setback to Fairfield.

Scouting the Bears (4-1-0)

Brown continued its trend of scoring early goals against the Buckeyes as Ava Seelenfreund put the Bears on the board in the fourth minute. It was the first first-half goal Ohio State had allowed all season.
Kayla Duran recorded assists on both of Brown's goals against Ohio State, bringing her season total to a team-high three.
Through five games, the Bears are averaging 2.20 goals per game, while giving up just 0.8.

Scouting the Huskies (3-3-1)

Vivian Akyirem has paced the Huskies to this point in the season with a team-high four goals. Jesse Hunt leads the squad with four assists.
Holland Stam has started all seven games in goal while posting a 1.30 goals against average and a .845 save percentage.
On the season, the Husky offense is averaging exactly one goal per game, while the defense has allowed its opponents to score 1.29 goals per contest.

History

The Bears are 8-1-0 all-time against the Huskies with the only loss coming back in 2010.
Brown has since won three in a row, including a 3-1 victory last season in Providence.
In the 2021 iteration of the matchup, Miya Grant-Clavijo scored twice in the first half to give Brown a 2-0 lead at halftime. Northeastern scored on a PK in the 64^th minute, before Brittany Raphino iced the game with her own goal in the 70^th minute to give the Bears the 3-1 decision.
