Scouting the Bears:
- As mentioned in the season preview article, the Bears are returning seven of their top eight point scorers from the 2021 team. Leading the way are Brittany Raphino (28 points) and Ava Seelenfreund (18), followed by Zoe Maxwell (10), Miya Grant-Clavijo (nine), Evelyn Calhoon (seven), Kayla Duran (six), and Lexi Quinn (six).
- On defense, Brown returns consistent starters in Duran and Jessica Hinton. Duran was one of only three players on last year's roster to start all 16 games. Hinton played in 12 games last year, while starting the final nine of the season.
- One question head coach Kia McNeill and her staff will have to answer is who will take control of the starting goalkeeper job. Recent grad Kayla Thompson made 30 starts for the Bears in goal over the last two years, including all 14 of the team's Ivy League contests.
- Brown will be Albany's third opponent this season. The Great Danes have dropped each of their first two contests, 1-0 to UMass and 3-0 to Monmouth.
- Albany has outshot its competition so far this season, 30-26, but just hasn't been able to find the back of the net. Sahara Zingano leads the team with five shots on goal.
- In 2021, Albany finished with a 6-8-4 overall record, while going 4-3-2 in America East play.
- Rhode Island has also gotten off to a tough start to its season, dropping a pair of games to NC State (4-0) and Wake Forest (4-1).
- The Rams' lone goal was scored by Brooke Cavino. She has led URI in points in each of the last two seasons.
- In 2021, the Rams finished 6-9-2 with a 5-4-1 mark in A10 action.
- The Bears and Great Danes have faced off once before, a 4-1 Brown victory back in 2008.
- Brown owns the overall series edge against URI at 20-6-1. The Bears have won the last seven in a row, including a 3-1 victory in 2021 that saw Raphino, Grant-Clavijo, and Quinn all tally strikes for Brown.
