PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown Women's Soccer first-year forward Jael-Marie Guy made history at the 2025 Southeast Asian Games in Thailand, helping the Philippine Women's National Football team to their first-ever Southeast Asian Games gold medal on Wednesday, Dec. 17.
"Playing for the senior team has always been a dream of mine and something I've been working towards for the past couple of years." Guy said. "I am so grateful to not only have been a part of winning the nation's first gold medal in the SEA Games, but to be able to represent my country and its people as well. My team and I couldn't have done it without the support of our coaches, staff, friends, family, and fans. I've learned so much in the short amount of time I spent with the PWNT, and I can't wait to bring all of these new memories and lessons to help me grow as a player/person in the future."
In late November, Guy of the Brown earned an international call-up to the Philippine Women's National Football Team. She participated in the team's training camp from Nov. 23 to Dec. 2 before being named to the final 23-player squad for the 2025 SEA Games.
Guy made her senior international debut on Dec. 5, 2025, appearing in a group-stage match against Myanmar. She went on to feature throughout the tournament, scoring her first senior international goal in the 87th minute of the semifinal against host Thailand. Her penalty goal equalized the match at 1-1 in regulation, and Guy converted the opening penalty in shootout, helping drive the Philippines to a 4-2 victory and its first-ever SEA Games final appearance.
The Philippine Women's National Football Team then edged defending champions Vietnam on penalties, 6-5, to win their first-ever gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games. Guy scored the opening penalty in the 6-5 shootout. Guy was one of the youngest players on the roster to earn minutes during the championship campaign.
At Brown, Guy appeared in 16 matches in 2025 and collected three goals and an assist.
