Meet Information
McMeniman qualified for the national championships in Eugene for the first time in her career after placing seventh overall at the NCAA East Prelims back on May 26 in Indiana. Her mark of 51.22 meters (168'0) broke her own school record, the third time this season that she reset the school benchmark. The latest record was a full 1.60 meters further than her previous record, marking the first time in program history that an athlete topped the 50-meter mark in the javelin.
Thursday night's competition will culminate a fantastic season and Brown career for the Dracut, Massachusetts native. McMeniman earned Second Team All-Ivy honors for her runner-up performance at the Ivy Heps with a then-school record of 49.62m (162'9). She previously took home first place at the Mark Young Invitational on April 23, and at the Black & Gold Invitational on April 1 with a then-new program record throw of 48.23 meters (158'3). She began the year with a third place finish out of 42 competitors at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge (44.88m/147'3).
McMeniman will be one of two Ivy athletes competing in the event in Oregon, joining Ivy champ Kate Joyce of Princeton, who finished eighth at the East Prelims, one spot behind McMeniman. Of the 24 athletes competing in the women's javelin, McMeniman is one of eight to come from a non-power conference school.
