Brown Track and Field Takes Fifth Place at Ivy League Heps

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Brown men's and women's track and field teams both took home fifth place in this weekend's Ivy League Track and Field Championships, which concluded on Sunday.
Brown's men's team saw two individuals earn runner-up finishes on Sunday in Altan Mitchell in the triple jump and Jono Pelusi in the decathlon, giving the team four podium finishes on the weekend, following Mitchell's third place triple jump and Kevin Fairchild's third place javelin finish on Saturday.
On the women's side, Sydney Scott took second place in the finals of the 100 meter dash, with Maddie Frey taking third overall. This follows a pair of podium performances on Saturday from Sophia Gallucci (HT) and Erin McMeniman (JT).
MEN
Pelusi set a new personal-best by over 200 points in the decathlon, finishing second overall with 6,654 points, good for the fourth-most in program history. During the decathlon, Pelusi took first place in the pole vault (4.48m/14'8.25) and second in the 400m (50.29) and 1500m (4:26.29).
Mitchell earned his second podium finish of the championships, taking runner-up in the triple jump at 15.40m (50'6.25), and Sidarth Raman scored points in fifth place overall at 14.88m (48'10), a new personal-best.
In the high jump, John McNeil cleared 2.06 meters to take fifth place in the high jump.
Daniel Sarisky finished sixth overall in the finals of the 200m dash in 21.58.
In the 100 meter hurdle finals, Bretram Rogers captured two points for his fifth place time of 14.22. Rogers also qualified for the 400m hurdle finals, where he captured sixth place in 54.50m.
Over in the relays, Brown's 4x100m relay squad of Alex Wilson, Sarisky, Kevin Boyce and Zach Love combined for a fourth place time of 41.38 seconds. In the 4x400m, Jack Kelley, Boyce, Tyler Nevala and Joshua Lim took fifth place at 3:16.62.
WOMEN
Sydney Scott set a new personal record in the finals of the 100m meter dash, helping Brown take two of the top three spots with her runner-up time of 11.91 seconds. Frey joined her on the podium with her third place finish of 11.95.
Frey also qualified for Sunday's 200 meter finals, where she placed fourth in 24.05.
In the finals of the 100 meter hurdles, Lauren Yeboah-Kodie scored in sixth place overall in 14.09 seconds. The Bears also earned points from Anjoli Mathew in sixth place of the 400 hurdles in personal-record fashion of 1:02.81.
In the relays, Brown's 4x100 relay team of Scott, Frey, Arielle Desir and Mathew placed seventh with the No. 6 time in program history at 46.61 seconds. The 4x400m team of Emma Gallant, Frey, Desir and Mathew scored in fifth place in 3:50.26.
In the high jump, Chiamaka Odenigbo cleared 1.70m (5'7) on her first attempt to tie for fourth overall. The triple jump saw Yeboah-Kodie take fourth overall with a new personal-best 12.52m (41'1) and ranking No. 8 all-time at Brown.
Kendra Ezeama scored points for Brown in sixth place of the shot put at 13.72m (45'0.25).
UP NEXT
Qualified athletes will compete at the NCAA First Round May 26-28 in Bloomington, Indiana. The current qualifying lists can be found for men and women.
