
Garnet Hathaway '14 and the Capitals Set for 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Former Brown Bear Garnet Hathaway '14 and the Washington Capitals are set to begin the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs with an Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series against the top-seeded Florida Panthers tonight in Sunrise, Florida at FLA Live Arena.
Hathaway and the Capitals secured the second Wild Card spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs after finishing the 2021-22 regular season with 100 points and a 44-26-12 record.
The 2021-22 campaign marked a career-year for the Kennebunkport, Maine native. He finished the season with a career-high 14 goals and matched a career-high with 12 assists in 76 games played.
Hathaway ranked sixth on the team in goals and ninth in points. Alexander Ovechkin led the team with 50 goals and 90 points.
The Capitals look to advance out of the first round for the first time with Hathaway on the roster and first time since the 2018 Cup run. Washington fell to the New York Islanders in five games in 2020 and fell to the Boston Bruins in five games in 2021.
Earlier this season, Hathaway became the third Bear to reach the 100-point milestone in the NHL, joining Curt Bennett '70 (334) and Timothy Bothwell '78 (121).
Washington and Florida play Game 1 tonight in Florida and Game 2 on Thursday, May 5 with puck drop scheduled for 7:30 p.m. both nights. Tonight's game will broadcast on ESPN2 with Thursday's game will broadcast on TBS.
The Capitals and Panthers head to the nation's capital for Game 3 on ESPN this Saturday (May 7) with puck drop scheduled for noon at Capital One Arena. Game 4 is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday (May 9) and will air on TBS.
Games 5 through 7, if necessary, are scheduled for Wednesday (May 11), Friday (May 13), and Sunday (May 15).
