#6 Men's Crew to compete at 75th Eastern Sprints on Sunday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The sixth-ranked Brown Bears will face stiff competition at the 75th Eastern Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., on Sunday.
Brown will compete against seven teams in the latest IRA Coaches Poll. The Eastern Sprints will feature No. 2 Yale, No. 3 Harvard, No. 4 Dartmouth, No. 7 Syracuse, No. 8 Northeastern, No. 9 Princeton and No. 11 Cornell.
The Bears will start the day with the 4V8 race at 8:00 a.m. and are paired with Dartmouth, Princeton, Cornell, Wisconsin and Penn. The 3V8 race begins at 8:48 a.m. with the Bears paired against Yale, Princeton, Boston, Cornell, Holy Cross and Columbia.
The Varsity 8 race will take place at 9:24 a.m. for Brown with Harvard, Cornell, Wisconsin and Georgetown also in that race. The 2V8 race will begin at 10:36 a.m. with Brown facing off against Harvard, Penn, Navy and Holy Cross. In the 5V8 race, beginning at 1:20 p.m. Brown will race against Yale, Dartmouth, Navy, Harvard and Princeton.
The top-two teams in each heat from the Varsity 8, 2V8 and 3V8 will face off in the Grand Final in the afternoon. The top three teams in each of the 4V8 heats will move on to the Grand Final.
Brown has had a lot of success at the Eastern Sprints, finishing no worse than 5th in the Rowe Cup in every event since 1997, including wins in 2000, 2009, 2013 and 2014. The Varsity 8 boat has earned gold three times since 2000, winning in 2000, 2009 and 2012. It also has had three silver and five bronze finishes during that time span.
