Women's water polo beats Saint Francis in split on Saturday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Brown women's water polo split its two games on Saturday, falling to No. 7 Michigan before beating Saint Francis to close out the day.
GAME 1: No. 7 MICHIGAN 11, BROWN 6
The Bears fell behind early, trailing 3-1 after the first quarter. Katie Klein, who finished with two goals on the day, had the lone first quarter goal for the Bears.
Brown trailed by as much as five in the second quarter before goals from Zoe King and Dagmara Czajka made the score 6-3 at halftime.
Claire Pisani scored two goals in the third quarter and Klein added her second goal but the Wolverines pushed their lead to four heading to the final quarter.
Brown held Michigan to just one goal in the final eight minutes but the Bears were held scoreless as Michigan earned the five-goal win.
GAME 2: BROWN 11, SAINT FRANCIS 8
Brown responded to the loss with a win over Saint Francis, jumping out to an early lead. The Bears tallied the first four goals of the game coming from four different players. Klein, KING, Katharine Knowles and Emily Suong all netted goals in the first quarter. Saint Francis scored two goals later in the quarter as Brown led 4-2 after one period.
Klein scored her second goal of the game in the second as each team tallied one goal.
Czajka and King each scored in the third quarter but Saint Francis won the quarter 4-2, tying the game 7-7 into the fourth quarter.
Two quick goals from Bryn Gioffredi started the quarter and put Brown up 9-7. Saint Francis cut the lead to one but 30 seconds later, King scored her third goal of the game, pushing Brown's lead back to two. Lily Weiser added a goal late in the quarter for the final margin.
Marley Presiado finished the game with eight blocks and one steal in goal for the Bears.
UP NEXT
Brown will return home for two games on Sunday (April 10). The Bears will start their day with a game against Bucknell at 9 a.m. before taking on Princeton at 1 p.m.
