Men's Lacrosse Heads to Philadelphia for Ivy Clash with #8 Penn

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (5-4, 0-2 Ivy League) hit the road to take on the eighth-ranked Penn Quakers (4-3, 1-2 Ivy League) Saturday afternoon at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Saturday's Ivy League game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters Saturday with a 5-4 overall record and 0-2 Ivy League mark. The Bears look to snap a three-game losing streak Saturday against the Quakers, most recently falling at home to sixth-ranked Princeton (Apr. 2).
- Devon McLane leads the Bears in goals (27), assists (17), points (44), shots (81), shots on goal (52), and man-up goals (7). He ranks third in the Ivy League with 4.89 goals per game and fifth in the Ivy League with 3.00 goals per game. He is one of four players in the NCAA with seven man-up goals.
- Darian Cook is second on the team in goals (20), assists (16), and points (36). He ranks sixth in the conference with 1.78 assists per game and 10th in the conference with 4.00 points per game.
- As a team, Brown's offense ranks fifth in the conference and 28th in the NCAA with 12.89 goals per game. Brown's man-up offense ranks third in the conference and tied for 16th in the NCAA with 15 goals in 32 attempts (.469).
- Defensively, Brown ranks sixth in the conference with 12.00 goals against per game. Sophomore Connor Theriault has made eight starts between the pipes and holds a .517 save percentage and 11.90 goals against average.
- Brown's man-down defense leads the Ivy League and is sixth in the NCAA with eight goals allowed in 32 attempts (.750).
- Matthew Gunty has taken the majority of the faceoffs this season for Brown. He holds a .550 win-rate (115-for-219) to rank third in the conference and 30th in the NCAA. He leads the Bears with 58 ground balls and ranks second in the conference and 17th in the NCAA with 7.25 ground balls per game.
- Penn enters Saturday with a 4-3 overall record and 1-2 Ivy League mark. The Quakers are eighth in the country per the USILA Coaches Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
- In conference play, Penn opened with a 21-20 overtime loss at fourth-ranked Princeton (Mar. 19) before a 15-11 win over fourth-ranked Cornell (Mar. 26). Last weekend, the Quakers fell to eighth-ranked Yale, 12-11.
- In non-conference play, Penn holds wins over seventh-ranked Duke (Feb. 26), Penn State (Mar. 5), and Villanova (Mar. 13). The lone out-of-conference loss came in the season-opener against third-ranked Georgetown.
- Dylan Gergar leads the Quakers with 21 goals in seven games. He is second on the team with 29 points. His 3.00 goals per game are tied for fifth in the Ivy League and 22nd in the NCAA.
- Sam Handley leads Penn with 20 assists and 36 points. His 2.71 assists per game lead the conference and rank sixth in the NCAA.
- As a team, Penn ranks sixth in the conference and 31st in the NCAA with 12.29 goals per game. Penn's man-up offense is second in the Ivy and tied for 13th in the NCAA with 10 goals in 21 attempts (.476).
- Defensively, Penn ranks fifth in the Ivy and 38th in the NCAA with 11.86 goals against per game. Between the pipes, Patrick Burkinshaw has started six games and holds a .528 save percentage and 11.66 goals against average.
- Penn's man-down defense is last in the conference and tied for 69th in the NCAA with 10 goals against in 20 attempts (.500).
- Jamie Zusi has taken the bulk of the faceoffs and holds a .516 win-rate (66-for-128). He leads the team with 29 ground balls.
- Saturday marks the 59th meeting between Brown and Penn with the Bears holding a 34-24 all-time record against the Quakers.
- The series has been extremely close of late, with both teams winning five of the last 10 games and seven of the last 14 games.
- In the last 10 games, Penn has outscored Brown 108-105.
- In the last 11 games, both teams have scored 117 goals.
- In the last 14 games, both teams have scored 141 goals.
- In the last 23 games, Brown has outscored Penn, 218-217.
