Women's water polo ends road trip with win at Austin College

SHERMAN, Texas – Brown women's water polo earned a 16-6 win at Austin College to finish up its road trip with an 8-1 record. A trio of Bears tallied three goals each in the win.
Claire Pisani, Zoe King and Claire Poissonnier all collected three goals in a historic game for Austin College. It was the first game Austin College has hosted in program history.
"It was great being a part of history today in Texas, playing against Austin College," said Felix Mercado, Head Coaching Chair for Water Polo. "We've had a successful Spring Break trip and now we look forward to our upcoming conference games next week."
Brown got things started, jumping out to a 3-0 lead with goals from Lily Weiser, King and Pisani. After a goal by Austin, Emily Suong and King each tallied a goal to make the score 5-1.
The Bears extended their lead in the second quarter as Sophie Golub, Katie Klein, King and Pisani all scored, putting Brown up 9-4 at the break.
Brown's defense shutout Austin College in the third quarter, winning the frame 4-0. Poissonnier scored two goals for Brown in the quarter and Bryn Gioffredi and Tallulah Clancy each scored one.
Poissonnier, Klein and Pisani each scored in the fourth quarter as Brown finished up the victory.
UP NEXT
Brown will return to conference play with games against Michigan and Saint Francis on Saturday (April 9) at Harvard. The Bears will then host Bucknell and Princeton on Sunday (April 10).
