
Softball plays host to Columbia for three-game series beginning Friday

PROVIDENCE, R.I – Brown softball returns home for a three-game series against Columbia this weekend. The Bears will host the Lions for a single game on Friday (April 15) before playing a doubleheader on Saturday (April 16).
Friday's game will begin at 4 p.m. and the first 50 fans to the game will get a t-shirt. On Saturday, first pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

ABOUT BROWN
Brown will be looking to snap a three-game Ivy League losing streak after dropping games at Dartmouth last weekend. In the three losses, Brown was outscored by a total of five runs by the Big Green.
Brianna Rodriguez currently leads the team with a .346 batting average and Katie O'Leary is right behind at .345. Kat Clum leads the team with 24 hits this year.
Rodriguez currently holds an eight-game streak of reaching base. It is the longest current streak for Brown and the second-longest of the season for the Bears.
In Ivy League play, Elayna Tsiouplis boasts the best average at the plate with a .324 clip and is tied with Clum for the most hits on the team at 11.
Clum, Rodriguez and O'Leary have each driven in a team-high six runs in league play and O'Leary leads the squad with two home runs.
On the season, Brown's pitching staff holds an ERA of 3.03, tops in the Ivy League. In league games, that number jumps to 5.13, putting Brown fifth in the Ivy League.

Columbia enters the weekend with a 9-20 overall record and a 5-7 mark in Ivy League play. The Lions have lost five of their last six Ivy League games, including two of three to Yale last weekend.
Abby Stuart leads the team with a .360 batting average, seven home runs and 18 runs batted in. The next best batting average on the team belongs to Jaden Hill at .279.
Jordan Hill leads the pitching staff with a 3.23 ERA and 5-7 record. Hill has thrown 54 strikeouts but has walked 35 batters.
