
Bears downed by Boston College in midweek clash, 5-1

BOSTON – Vanessa Alexander drove in a run and Jodie Aguirre threw 2.1 innings of shutout relief but Brown was defeated by Boston College 5-1 on Tuesday (April 12).
Brown finished the game with five hits from five different players but left five runners on base in a tight battle against the ACC foe.
Boston College struck first with run in the bottom of the first but Brown answered in the third. Brianna Rodriguez and Laurel Moody singled to start the inning. Dara English and Nicole Kim each hit into fielder's choices as Vanessa Alexander came to the plate. Alexander singled to right field to bring home Moody and tie the game.
The tie did not last long as a walk, triple and single started the bottom of the third for the Eagles, who took a 3-1 lead. Boston College would add another run two batters later to jump ahead 4-1.
The Bears got two runners on base with one out in the fourth but a strikeout and lineout ended Brown's threat.
Boston College took advantage of an error by Brown in the bottom of the fourth to add another run and chase starter Erin Elgas from the game. Jodie Aguirre entered the game and picked up a strikeout with two runners on to end the inning.
Aguirre and Boston College's reliever Abby Dunning shut down both offenses the rest of the way as no batters reached base in the last three innings.
UP NEXT
Brown will return home for a three-game series against Columbia on Friday (April 15) and Saturday (April 16). The series will start with a single game on Friday beginning at 3 p.m.
