Costa Completes Competition at NCAA Regionals

AUBURN, Ala. – Brown senior Mei Li Costa competed at the NCAA Regionals at Auburn on Thursday evening as an individual qualifier on the uneven bars.
Costa, who was one of just two Ivy League gymnasts to qualify for the regionals, posted a score of 9.025. This marked the second time that Costa has qualified for the NCAA Regionals during her career, previously having qualified as a freshman in 2019. She was on pace to qualify in 2020 before the rest of the season, along with the entirety of the 2021 season, was canceled due to the pandemic.
"Mei Li qualified in both of her full years of competition and we couldn't be prouder of her accomplishments," said Brown head coach Sara Carver-Milne. "She has represented Brown on the big stage and is leaving quite a legacy. Yesterday, she had an uncharacteristic slip, but she she's looking forward to leading her team at USAG Nationals next week."
Costa's qualification marked the 22nd time a Brown gymnast has qualified for an NCAA Regional with Costa's 2019 qualification and Caroline Morant (all-around) in 2017 being the two most recent. Costa is also just the fourth two-time regional qualifier in program history, joining Morant (2014, 17), Jayne Finst (2002, 03, 04) and Eileen Rocchio (1992, 93).
Brown will compete one final time as a team in 2022 at next weekend's USAG Nationals in Ithaca. N.Y.
